VASG WG Roster for IEEE

Subject: VASG WG Roster for IEEE

To all:

It looks like the IEEE is now concerned about the legal liability of WG
members. They have asked for a roster of all active WGs. As the VASG has
always been, more or less, self-identifying in its membership, I am
forwarding this information to everyone on the VASG email reflector.
Besides, I don't want to be responsible for inadvertently leaving someone
off the roster.

Action: If you want to be identified as a VASG WG member for the IEEE
individual indemnification purposes, then do the following:

1. Reply to me with the following information by 26 June 2000:
2. Name
3. Company
4. Phone number
5. Fax number
6. Email address

I will take the responsibility of collecting all member information and
submitting the spreadsheet as requested by the IEEE. Thank you.

To: Sponsors, Liaison Reps, WG Chairs

IEEE needs to specify all those volunteers actively engaged in standards
development activities, on a duly authorized IEEE project, for the purpose
of their individual indemnification. On 30 January 2000, the IEEE-SA
Standards Board approved the following addition to the IEEE-SA Operations
Manual, Clause 5.1.2f under Duties of the Sponsor which states:

"Submit annually to the IEEE Standards Department an electronic roster
of individuals participating on standards projects"

We ask that you submit a roster of your standards participants to the New
Standards Committee (NesCom) Administrator, Jodi Haasz, j.haasz@ieee.org by
1 September 2000. Participant rosters may include:

working group members
balloting group members
ballot resolution group members
officers of the sponsor
sponsor membership lists

Indemnification will be extended to those individuals who may no longer be
involved in current revisions of projects, but who were involved at some
point during the development of a standards project.

As stated in the Implementation Plan below, rosters should include name,
company, phone, fax and email information at the least, but may contain
additional information, such as specific working group affiliation. In
addition, updates may be submitted as often as necessary to keep the
rosters current. An excel spreadsheet is attached for your use in
returning this information.

Implementation Plan for Roster Requirement for all Active IEEE Projects

1. The Sponsor shall submit an electronic roster of participants in IEEE
standardization activities to the NesCom Administrator by 1 September 2000.
This list shall comprise, at a minimum, name, company, phone, fax, and
email. The Sponsor may delegate this responsibility to its WG Chairs if it
so indicates to the IEEE Standards Department.
2. The information will be entered into the IEEE-SA database.
3. The Sponsor is encouraged to submit any updates to the roster as often
as possible, but is required to submit an updated roster at least annually,
by 1 September of each year, as long as the project is active. Only those
individuals listed on the rosters will be indemnified under IEEE rules.
4. Rosters may be used to disseminate standards development information
or standards participation related information. These rosters will not be
sold or used for any other purpose. If a Sponsor submits a roster
designating specific names that should not receive IEEE-related
information, those names will be used for indemnification purposes only,
and will not receive any additional information.
5. This procedure will go into effect immediately.
