Mirmak, if available) ======================================================================== Opens ----- Lynne Green is offering a 3-day IBIS class. Details can be had offline. Randy Wolff reviewed a potential parser bug. Using [Model Selector] with differential receiver thresholds causes an error related to single- ended threshold statements and also a warning that one shouldn't use differential thresholds. Michael reviewed a second set of proposed changes to the IBIS 4.2 WIP document. Included are concerns about how capacitance and inductance are described as units, plus how package capacitances are connected (parallel or series?). Bob Ross agrees on RLC clarification, and with the issue of confusing end comments on EBD. The team confirmed that the C in package [Pin Numbers] is definitely intended to be parallel though referencing is a problem. John Angulo raised a concern regarding the reference for a series C or series L; there is no reference, per se, and perhaps should not be any mentioned in the specification. On the issue of series pin "impedance" issue, no one on the team recalled a reason for adding the statements now in the spec. Michael also summarized his draft BIRD text for IBIS-ICM links. Changes to actual syntax are minor, but there are several major additional guides to node naming for tools to process ICM connections to IBIS files. Bob noted that [Node Declarations] text in the new seems unchanged. John inquired about the BIRD's implication that the ICM family can contain multiple package definitions. Michael confirmed that this was still intended for support. John also noted that the references to node maps are incorrect, but that the intent is correct to link ports to ICM nodes. John also mentioned that the links can't ignore power pins; the resulting specification must have connections/coupling defined -- imagine that all the power ports of [External Model] are always present, and in plain-old-IBIS, they are automatically connected. Michael is still somewhat skeptical. John responded that it would be nice to avoid naming power ports, rails, etc. explicitly. Lynne inquired whether we are assuming that the person making the ICM file knows something about the specific chip, die, etc. The team acknowledged this. Michael agreed to integrate the feedback and make corrections. He noted that the changes will remain essentially "unparsed." He asked the team whether an additional mapping keyword is needed to make buffer and power connections explicit for checking by the parser John concluded the meeting by noting that our objective should be to avoid adding new keywords.
