Arpad stated that he will chat on BIRD 97/98 in Munich at DATE. Michael called for comments on BIRD102. Both Lynne/John suggested that an extension of the file names to 40 characters should not be tool problem. Michael reviewed the list of BIRDs and BUGs outstanding. John stated that he can help with development/parser fixes after next week. Michael reviewed 4 BUGs that can be fixed easily in the next release. For BIRDs, parser changes are required for - BIRD102 (filename) - BIRD93.1 (signal name) - BIRD100.2 (parameter passing, language changes) 5 BUGs remain for the IBIS 5.0 parser. Bob suggested that these BUGs plus a complete "rewrite from scratch" should be parser bid options. Michael made some brief notes on ICM-IBIS linking. Assumptions include: - [Pin Mapping] remains, and must be complete - ICM assumes pin names on one side and arbitrary node names on the other - all native IBIS pins are 1-1 mapped, including [External Model] - Circuit Call permits anything - rail connections are unambiguous if 1-1 mapping is assumed John suggested that [Pin Mapping] isn't needed for simple IBIS cases, under 3.2/4.0. When one pair of power/ground pins is used, these are associated with the available models by tools automatically, without the need for explicit connections. Michael inquired what happens with 5 V tolerant buffer with only one power, and one ground is created? Bob suggested that these must be called out explicitly. Michael also noted that a nodal path is required for S-parameter support No tree path descriptions can be supported. Arpad suggested that this technical limitation should be researched and removed, if possible.
